Chester FC Women advanced into the Second Round of the Alliance Design and Print Cup, for the very first time, with an Extra Time victory over Runcorn Linnets yesterday.
The Blues deserved their victory, going the distance after missing some good chances in the 90 minutes. Early on Chenai Lefebvre and Rach Lloyd went close – before Ash Bullock had two good opportunities before the break; hitting the crossbar and then firing inches wide.
In the second half the Linnets goalkeeper made a good stop to deny Emma Gray, whilst also saving from Lefebvre, Bullock and Lloyd as the game ended goalless.
Into Extra Time and it was Chloe Davis who came on to steal the show. She poked home from close range to finally put Kalvin Williams’ side in front late on – before making it a brace in the 119th minute – skipping past a defender and rounding the ‘keeper to seal a big win.
CHESTER: Doherty, Sands, Dowell, Redman, Adderley, Sconce, Bradley, Lloyd, Lefebvre, Bullock, Gray.
SUBS: Bordessa, Lee, Davis, Parr.
