WREXHAM COMMUNITY THEATRE COMPANY RETURNS WITH BRAND NEW SHOW IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN

With Halloween just around the corner, a Wrexham-based community theatre company is set to return to the stage with a production of a quirky horror comedy musical.

Wrexham Music & Theatre Society (WMTS) will stage StarKid Productions "Nerdy Prudes Must Die" at the George Edwards Hall in Cefn Mawr on Friday 16^th October at 7.30pm, Saturday 17^th October at 2.30pm & 7.30pm, Friday 23^rd October at 7.30pm and Saturday 24^th  October at 2.30pm & 7.30pm.

With music and lyrics by Jeff Blim and a script by Matt and Nick Lang, "Nerdy Prudes Must Die", originally opened at the El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles in 2023. The show is set to make its West End debut at the Apollo Theatre in London in February next year.

Set in the fictional Hatchfield High, something supernatural is stalking the school corridors, and it's got a grudge against nerdy prudes. When the school's biggest geeks start dropping like flies, students Grace Chasity, Steph Lauter and Peter Spankoffski must come together to survive the onslaught and find out just who is behind the bloodcurdling events plaguing the school. 

The production, which contains strong language, religious references and adult content, will be directed for WMTS by Adam Hodges.

Speaking about the show, Adam said:

"I’ve been performing with Wrexham Music & Theatre Society for a few years now, and at some point I thought, why not give directing a go? And what better way to start than with a musical! I wanted to take on something very different from what we’ve done before, and "Nerdy Prudes Must Die" felt like the perfect choice. It has everything you could want from a show: comedy, horror, romance, catchy songs and a fantastic cast of unique characters."

Adam added:

"I’ve been incredibly impressed by the effort and commitment that everyone involved, both cast and crew, has put into the production. As we get closer to opening night, rehearsals are really ramping up, and the excitement is building. We've faced one or two challenges along the way, but it's been a fantastic experience, and I’m so proud of what the team has achieved. I’m sure audiences are in for a real treat!"
