Family of "beautiful" son who died following Chester collision pay tribute

The family of a man who sadly died following a motorbike collision in Backford have paid tribute to him.

Cody Dobbs, 22, was the pillion passenger on a black Kawasaki Z650 D2 motorcycle that was being ridden along the A41 Liverpool Road when it was in collision in the early hours of Saturday 19 September.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died days later.

Cody's family have now paid tribute to him.

Cody’s Father said:

“We are all truly devasted of the loss of our beautiful son. Words cannot describe the sense of pain and loss to everyone, including all his friends and family. A young man with all his dreams in front of him, his life was so cruelly brought to a sudden and tragic end.

"Cody was such a joy with his smile, charisma, and caring nature to everyone he met. Not one person who met my son had anything other than respect and kind words to say about him. He was a big part of people lives, he will live on forever in our hearts and minds. He was an amazing chef and accomplished so much already at such a young age, we are all truly devasted.

“I would like to especially thank the ICU department at the Countess of Chester Hospital for taking care of our son during this difficult time, they have been absolutely amazing, and the level of care, compassion and support has been truly outstanding.

"Cody worked as a chef at the Clock Tower, Northwich, and regarded all his colleagues as a second family. In his memory, they have arranged a fundraising night. There will be a band and all his family and friends are welcome. This will be hosted at the Clock Tower, Chester Way, Northwich, CW9 5NF, on Friday 25th September from 8:30pm.

"All money raised will go to ICU at the Countess of Chester a local cat sanctuary, a cause close to Cody’s heart. For donations, please contact the Clock Tower’s managers, Hannah and Courtney.

"Once again thank you to everybody for their kind words and particularly all the support from the Countess of Chester Hospital and the absolutely amazing support from Cheshire Police.”

Cody’s Mother added:

“It is with the greatest sadness that we confirm that our beautiful Cody has passed away as a result of the road traffic accident near Chester on Saturday morning.

“Cody was a boy with many chapters in his life, and he brought so much joy, love and so many precious memories into our lives. You are, and always will be, in our hearts and minds.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child, and this was certainly true for Cody. We would like to thank each and every person who played a part in his life, supported him, cared for him, encouraged him and helped him along the way. We are truly grateful to every one of you. His life was clearly taken far too soon, and we will forever cherish the time we were lucky enough to have with him.

“We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the police for their kindness, compassion and professionalism, and to the dedicated staff at the Countess of Chester Hospital for the care and support they provided.

“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness, love and support shown to Cody and to all of our loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are also with the driver of the collision as we are very aware that their life will too be changed forever at such a young age. Such unbelievable loss touching people on so many levels. 

"Cody will never be forgotten. He will remain forever in our hearts, and the memories, love and joy he gave us will stay with us always.”

The rider of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

He was initially arrested at the scene, but has since been de-arrested and is assisting officers with their enquires into the incident.
