Padel development update at the Deva Community Stadium

Chester Football Club has provided supporters with an update on the proposed Padel development at the Deva Community Stadium, following the granting of planning permission in July 2026.

Planning was originally submitted by Pick Padel Ltd in May 2025, following a tender process undertaken by the football club during 2024. Since outline planning permission was granted, work has continued behind the scenes to progress the development towards the next stage.

As part of this process, Pick Padel Ltd are now working closely with Padel Sheds, who already operate a successful Padel facility across the road from the Stadium. The two parties are working together on the development, including reviewing the proposed layout and progressing the discharge of outstanding planning conditions.

The development continues to progress through Pick Padel Ltd, although the structure and branding of the project may evolve as the parties work through the next stage. The current intention is for the facility to operate under the Padel Sheds brand, creating a coherent identity alongside their existing Chester operation.

Supporters may have seen a video released by Padel Sheds yesterday showcasing their vision for the proposed development at the Deva. It is important to stress that the designs and visuals shown in that video are artist impressions and remain subject to change as the project develops and the final layout is established in agreement with the football club.

The club is confident that the ethos and community-focused approach which formed an important part of Pick Padel Ltd’s original proposal will continue as the development progresses. This was an important consideration for Chester FC when selecting its preferred provider following the tender process.

The development represents an opportunity for the football club to create a sustainable income stream from part of the stadium site, while also bringing additional activity to the Deva Community Stadium throughout the week.

The club recognises that the reduction in available parking spaces is an important consideration for supporters, particularly on matchdays, and this will continue to be taken into account as the final site layout is developed. The club will continue to work with the developers to understand and manage the impact on matchday operations.

At the same time, the potential long-term income generated by the development is an important part of the club’s decision-making. As a supporter-owned football club, creating sustainable revenue streams that can be reinvested into the club and its future remains a key priority.
