Public notices will soon be published regarding changes to car parking tariffs at some Council-run car parks in the borough.
The new charges are planned to come into effect on Thursday, 30th January 2025.
The Council implemented the first phase of a tariff increase in car parks in Ellesmere Port, Frodsham and Northwich in January 2024. The second phase of this increase will see a modest rise of 20p across most tariffs in these areas.
Prior to the increase in January 2024, parking charges in the borough had not been increased in line with inflation for many years, and in some cases for over 10 years. The current phase of increased tariffs is required to continue to support the significant investment in parking facilities in recent years, new payment machines and payment options.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Homes, Planning and Safer Communities, Councillor Christine Warner said: “The new charges will ensure parking is fit for purpose and positively contributes to the borough’s economy, part of the Council’s 15-year parking strategy.”
Blue badge holders will continue to be able to park for free for up to four hours in all pay and display car parks and borough residents can register for a special micro-chip for use in some large ANPR controlled car parks.
