Blues Match Report: Buxton 3 - 1 Chester

A Sisa Tuntulwana brace either side of the break separated the sides as Chester fell to a 3 - 1 loss to Buxton at The Silverlands on Saturday afternoon.

A tight opening half-hour had threatened to be opened up by the Seals as Sam Reed provided the most threat for Phil Parkinson’s side with multiple driving runs into the final third that failed to test Logan Stretch in the home net.

The Bucks opened the scoring minutes before the 30 minute mark as the bouncing ball was latched on to by in-form Tuntulwana who slotted past Luke Hewitson.

Their lead remained for just 10 minutes as our Billy Waters netted the equaliser with his third goal of the season.

Buxton failed to clear a dangerous Nathan Woodthorpe delivery as Dan Ward’s deflected effort landed at the feet of Waters who smashed the ball past the home shot-stopper.

Just two minutes after the we levelled the score, captain Declan Weeks was ajudged by referee Ben Tolinson to have taken down Tuntulwana in the penalty area.

It was Sheffield Wednesday loanee Devlan Moses that stepped up from 12 yards as he netted his first goal of the season, sending Hewitson the wrong way.

Chances at the start of the second-half came few and far between, as the first real moment of danger came on the hour mark.

Tony Weston’s deflected cross cannoned off the crossbar before the backline collectively got the ball to safety.

Substitute Isaac Burgess thought he denied the hosts a third but his superb last ditch tackle saw the ball bounce back to Tultulwana who picked out the far corner to double his side’s advantage.

Parkinson’s men continued to press for their second in the final moments as Nathan Woodthorpe found himself on the end of a Kofi Moore cross which deflected narrowly wide.

We now have a week away from National League North action with a trip to Lower Breck next up in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.
