A 38-year-old man has been jailed after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Ellesmere Port.
Martin Ward from Main Road in Collin, Dumfries appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday 2 October to be sentenced to 15 months in prison. He was also subject to a restraining order not to contact the victim.
On 7 April this year the victim left an address in Woodchurch Lane to get in his car when he saw a another car approach. The car was driven at him hitting him on his elbow causing minor injury.
Two men, including Ward got out of the car and he was chased and assaulted with a baseball bat. A substance was thrown over him which smelled of bleach.
The bottle was recovered by police and the substance tested. It was found to have low levels of ammonia.
DC Nick Smith said:
“Thankfully the victim had minor injuries but was left shocked by his ordeal. The victim was targeted by the men who travelled to his house with the sole purpose of assaulting him and putting him in fear.
“Ward is now paying the consequences for this violence.”
