A Nathan Woodthorpe deflected strike in the first-half was cancelled out by a brilliant finish from Tom Allan after the break as it ended a point-a-piece in the North East.
Woodthorpe got his second goal for the club in the seventh minute, after good work from Ma’kel Campbell found the left-back just outside the area.
Nathan took advantage of the space afforded to him and smashed a deflected strike past goalkeeper Isaac Allan.
Luke Hewitson produced a fantastic stop to deny Robert Briggs’ powerful volleyed effort just after the 15-minute mark.
The Blues went close twice just after the half-hour mark through both Tom Peers and Billy Waters.
The former tested Allan first with a powerful effort from an acute angle but it was palmed away, before Waters’ strike was blocked from close-range.
The hosts came out strongly after the interval and claimed an equaliser in the 52nd minute, when Tom Allan struck sweetly into the top corner from narrowly outside the area.
Peers came close to producing a quick response on the hour mark as he turned quickly on the edge of the box before forcing a smart stop from Allan who pushed behind for a corner.
Jacob Hazel curled over after coming on as a substitute with an ambitious effort, before Joe Boggan forced another good save from Allan with a drilled strike.
Kofi Moore looked lively after coming on and had the final major chance with a volley that slid wide, but neither side could find a late breakthrough and it ended level.
Starting XI: Hewitson, Burroughs, Woodthorpe, Weeks, Griffin, Peers, Waters, Ward, Abreu, Campbell, Reed.
Substitutes: Mackin, Hazel, Murphy, Burgess, Foley, Boggan, Moore.
Scorers: Woodthorpe 8′, Allan 52′
