Entrants could follow in footsteps of Chester Zoo, which won Gold at Visit England Awards for Excellence this year.
Nominations are now open for the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards 2022/23, where hotels, attractions, pubs and more will have the chance to show why they are a must-visit.
The awards are all about recognising the excellence and outstanding achievement by local businesses and individuals working in Cheshire and Warrington’s visitor economy.
The awards are a chance for businesses to show why Cheshire and Warrington’s tourism sector is one of the best in England. Last year, following its success at the regional awards, Chester Zoo went on to the national Visit England Awards for Excellence and won Gold in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year Award and Silver in the Resilience and Innovation Award.
By entering this year’s awards, businesses across Cheshire and Warrington will also have the chance to enter the Visit England awards and showcase themselves on a national stage.
Jamie Christon, Chief Executive, Chester Zoo said: “The two national Visit England awards we picked up earlier this year firmly confirmed Chester Zoo as one of the must-see places to visit in the country. The awards shine a light on the best-of-the-best across the England’s tourism sector and our conservation zoo was incredibly proud to represent Cheshire on the national stage, showcasing the incredible work we do to prevent extinction to a range of new audiences.”
This year’s awards are open for nominations now until September 19 2022 and there are 17 categories, including Pub of the Year, New Tourism Business Award, Team of the Year and Visitor Attraction of the Year.
Joe Manning, Chief Executive, Marketing Cheshire, said: “Tourism is incredibly important to our economy here in Cheshire and its success would not be possible without all of the businesses.
“These awards are our chance to mark excellence in tourism and show what Cheshire has to offer. This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses, with the potential to go on to the national Visit England awards and showcase to a national audience. Chester Zoo showed just last year what is possible.
“I’d urge everyone to get involved and enter so we as a whole can shout about what Cheshire has to offer.”
The Finalists for the awards will be announced on October 14 2022 before the ceremony is held on March 23 2023.
