Council and partners encourage residents to report anti-social behaviour

Cheshire West and Chester Council is supporting a national campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and help keep communities safe.

Taking place from 29th June to 5th July, Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2026 encourages everyone to take a stand against ASB, report concerns, and support those affected.

ASB is any behaviour that causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm, or distress. It can include a wide range of issues such as vandalism, noise problems, neighbour disputes, littering, public space issues, environmental problems, and threatening behaviour.

While ASB is sometimes described as ‘low-level’, the Council and its partner agencies recognise the serious and lasting impact that it can have on individuals and communities.

Experiencing ASB can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and isolation, and in some cases can affect people’s physical health. Where ASB occurs in town / city centres, it can also have an adverse impact on local businesses through reducing footfall and revenue.

This year’s theme, ‘Making Communities Safer’, highlights the importance of working together to prevent ASB and respond effectively when it occurs.

The Council works closely with Cheshire Police, housing associations, and other partners to tackle ASB, take robust action where needed, and support longer-term solutions for communities experiencing ongoing issues.

Residents are being urged not to suffer in silence. Reporting incidents helps partners understand where problems are happening, take immediate action, and consider longer term solutions where problems persist.

ASB can be reported to Cheshire Police via:

  • online via the Cheshire Police website
  • by calling 101
  • or by calling 999 in an emergency or if someone is in immediate danger

More information about how to report ASB and other issues is available in the Council’s online  Residents’ and Business Guides to Reporting Issues.

For persistent problems, residents may be able to request an ASB Case Review if the same issue has been reported three or more times within six months to the Council, Police, or a registered social landlord. The ASB Case Review process ensures that agencies undertake a multi-agency review of the response to complaints of ASB and identify further steps to prevent further harm.

More information about the ASB Case Review is available on the Cheshire West and Chester Community Safety Partnership website:
