CWFL Queensferry Premier Division

In a rain-affected week in the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division, only two matches went ahead, but Hoole Rangers stole the spotlight with a dominant 6-0 victory over league leaders Kelsall FC. Victor Arongundade led the charge with a brace, while goals from Godwin Nweze, Callum Jones, John Elliot, and Callum Roberts completed the rout. A result which propels Hoole to second place in the table.

Upton JFC Reserves secured their second win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over Handbridge, Az Rolo was in fine form netting a brace, with Jord Mather and Joe Williams also on target. Joe Davies and Luke Barrett scored Handbridge’s consolation goals.

CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship Division

Friday night football in the CWFL Trophies Championship Division delivered plenty of excitement, with 16 goals scored across just two games. AFC Waverton secured a 4-2 victory on the road against Cheshire Vikings, taking home all three points. Louis Finn, Dec Jones, Owen Currie, and Alex Gray found the back of the net for Waverton, while Kyle Wright and Jack Reeves provided the responses for Vikings.

West Kirby Thirds delivered a commanding performance with an 8-2 victory over Chester Nomads Fourths. Michael McStein led the way with a hat-trick, while Danny Wilson and Jude Keith both bagged braces. Jack Widdicar added his name to the scoresheet to complete the rout, capping off an impressive display from West Kirby. Leon Willman and Adam Lodge scored Nomads consolations goals.

Waggon & Horses secured their first win of the season at the third time of asking, defeating Whitegate by the odd goal in five. Sam Vincent, Shaun Griffiths, and Olly Johnson all scored for the Waggon while Shaun Howarth and Kyle Craven scored for Whitegate. Upton JFC had Josh Robinson and Jack Robinson both on target but had to settle for a point away at Sutton Rangers Reserves who also netted goals of their own. Lache hit Horse & Jockey for seven to move up a place and now sit second. A four timer from Warren Kelly and further goals from Jack Radford, Danny Radford and Owen Cookson secured the points for Lache while Horse and Jockey had James Atkins and Jordan Grey on target.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 1

Lee Cairns and Callum Kenny both netted long-range strikes to see Neston storm into a 2-0 lead against Higher Bebington kelma vets. Cairns 30-yard free kick was supplemented by and equally impressive strike from Kenny only to see Kelma’s Jase Ashworth pull a goal back just before half time. Kelma’s pressure paid off in the second half, with Bryan Layfield scoring a late equalizer to secure a 2-2 draw.

In another gripping encounter, Capenhurst Vets and Queens Park Vets shared a point each after they played out a 3-3 thriller. A Mike Mcgree 25-yard strike got the Queens up and running only to see Mark Ryan strike back for Capenhurst moments later. Steve Baguley worked hard to win the ball then drove forward to put Queens 2-1 up before Anton Jolley headed home a Nick Scholes corner. Mathew Kavanagh brought Capenhurst back within one gaol just before half time. The second half seen both teams create good chances and, in an end-to-end game Cape finally netted the equaliser thanks to another goal from Mark Ryan to see an entertaining game finish 3-3.

On Friday night Mersey Royal Vets continued their high scoring streak with an 11-2 victory over old rivals Hooton Vets. Anthony Cotgrave helped himself to a hat-trick while Danny Edwards, Will Bulpin and former Hooton player Chay Dysart all netted doubles. John Strange and Lee Davey also contributed to the scoreline.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2

Big game of the day in Division two went in the favour of Great Float Vets who secured a hard fought 2-1 win over rivals Birkenhead Vets. Lee Gibson headed home for Birkenhead only for Float to reply with efforts from Neil Atkinson and Dava Favager as “The Float” struck an early season blow to Birkenhead’s title ambitions.

West Kirby United Vets started their season with a 4-2 away victory at Ashton Vets. Damon Edwards, Danny Williams, Iain Mackie, and Jay Thompson each found the net for West kirby while Ashtons goals came from Tom Harrison and Felix jones.

In another close encounter, Chester Nomads and Ellesmere Port Red Lions played to a 1-1 draw. Graeme Davidson scored for Chester Nomads, while Tom Cairns netted for the Red Lions, ensuring both teams shared the points.
