Firefighters were called to a report of a farmer's tractor being on fire in Lodge Lane, Saughall.
Shortly after 1pm on Tuesday (10th March), firefighters were called to a report of a farmer's tractor being on fire in Lodge Lane, Saughall, near Chester.
On arrival at the farm crews found the small tractor well alight.
It was surrounded by areas of controlled burning.
A water shuttle was set up to get enough water to the scene.
A cordon was also set up for the safety of the firefighters.
Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the tractor fire.
They then damped the tractor down to make it safe.
Firefighters then tackled the seats of fire surrounding the tractor.
It was decided that the controlled fires involving quantities of rubbish needed to be extinguished due to strong winds.
Firefighters utilised water from a bowser at the farm to fight the fires.
The farmer used a different tractor to help firefighters extinguish the fires, by pulling out and turning over rubbish.
Once the fires were out the area was damped down to make it safe.
Firefighters were in attendance for around five hours.
