Residents, local businesses and community members are invited to share their views on the draft plan to improve walking, wheeling, and cycling along the A548 Bagillt Road
The local community has identified issues along this route, and Flintshire County Council is acting to address them. In response to community concerns about safety and accessibility, the council is working with Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Cymru to develop a plan that reflects local needs. This initiative aims to make walking, wheeling, and cycling safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable for everyone, helping to create a more inclusive and affordable way for getting out and about around our communities.
How to Get Involved
There are several ways to have your say on the draft plan:
- Attend an in-person workshop – Wednesday 15th July at 4pm - 7pm, Victorian School, Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, CH8 7GR
- Complete the online survey
- Send feedback via email – enquiries@walkwheelcycletrust.org.uk
- Send feedback via post – Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Cymru, One Canal Parade, Dumballs Road, Cardiff, CF10 5BF
Paper copies of the survey are also available upon request from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Cymru. To request one, please email Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Cymru.
What’s Happened So Far?
In November 2024, we asked the local community to tell us which parts of A548 Bagillt Road between Greenfield Valley and Pen-y-Maes Road work well and which don’t. We held workshops in classrooms with school children and a workshop at the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park. We also set up an online and postal survey for people who couldn’t join us in person.
What You Told Us
Feedback from the community highlighted several key issues, including:
- Crossing the A548 Bagillt Road is difficult and unsafe
- Footways are too narrow, cluttered and the surfaces are poor
- Cars and other vehicles travel too fast
- There is a lack of safe, clearly marked routes for walking, wheeling and cycling
Together, we came up with some possible ways to fix these problems and made a draft plan for A548 Bagillt Road. Now, we need the community’s help again.
We'd love to hear your thoughts or comments on the draft plan — these will be considered as part of the next stage of design development.
Councillor Glyn Banks, Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Transportation, said:
"We really want to hear from people who live, work, and travel along the A548 Bagillt Road about what works well, what could work better, and how these proposals could benefit them.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of this route, and I encourage as many people as possible to have their say."
