Severn Trent is investing £4.3million in Great Barrow, as part of a scheme to replace ageing water pipes and provide the area with a more reliable water supply.
Work is set to begin on the delivery of a major project of upgrades to the water network in the village, modernising infrastructure and ensuring its resilience for the future.
Crews are set to start working to install over 25 miles of new pipe with work set to begin on Monday, March 31st throughout the areas Great Barrow, Mickle Trafford and Aldford all work will be completed by April 2027.
To enable this work to go ahead as quickly and with as little disruption to you as possible, there will be teams working in different locations in sections beginning with:
- Chester Road – junction with Barrow Lane/Station Lane – Monday, March 31st to Friday, April 11th
- Barrow Lane/Station Lane – from junction with Chester Road to Barrow Station Cottage - Monday, March 31st to Friday, June 20th
- Long Green - Monday, March 31st to Friday, June 6th
Catherine Webb, Community Communications Officer for Severn Trent, said:
“These works are part of a huge project for Severn Trent that will bring massive benefits to Great Barrow and our wider region.
“The new modern materials will last up to 100 years and create a more secure network for all of our customers.”
To provide as much information as possible to customers, a drop-in session is set to take place to provide full details of the scheme, its benefits and provide people with a chance to ask questions.
The event will be held at Barrow Village Hall, Hall Lane, Great Barrow, CH3 7LN, Wednesday, March 12th between 4pm & 7pm.
Catherine added:
“We understand that large-scale works such as this will cause some disruption, so we want to make sure that customers have all the information and would encourage them to come along to the drop-in session.
“Access to homes, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained. However, there may be occasions when vehicle access to a property is restricted for short periods of time and customers will be notified in advance if this happens."
Anyone who owns or operates a business which receives visiting customers who purchase goods or services, and the works will affect sales income, contact the Severn Trent Business Loss Team by emailing:
