RainbowBiz CIC say a huge THANK YOU!

RainbowBiz CIC would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us in 2023!

We have enjoyed every minute of your attendance.

We have done a lot in 2023...

We made a film with Flintshire Countryside and Coast which discusses Keeping Active and Volunteering on the Welsh Coastal Path. We also await the results of our highly anticipated RainbowBiz Iris Film 'Creating a Sense Of belonging', which is due for release in February 2024. Such an amazing experience to be filmed by the Iris film crew and to be given the opportunity to record the work RainbowBiz CIC does.

We have worked with Coleg Cambria, feeding back our opinions on the accessibility of their website as part of focus group sessions and we visited the college to see the courses they offer alongside the fantastic facilities that are available. These facilities, over in Northop are home to many species of mammals, reptiles and birds.

We have also welcomed many visitors to our projects. ITV News Wales, Members of the Senedd, FLVC, Victim Support, North Wales Police, local PCSO’s, the North Wales Police Crime Commissioner and members of the local Connah's Quay and Shotton Town Council as well as Flintshire County Councillors, Coleg Cambria staff and Glyndwr staff and students.

Of course the new RainbowBiz Hippy Shop opening on Shotton High Street was a massive highlight!! It has been great to see the community welcome us to their High Street. The support has been fantastic. As you know 100% of all our profits are reinvested back into RainbowBiz CIC in order for us to deliver our community projects.

Who could forget the brilliant Plant and Share Day held at our Mill Lane Allotment and the Digging Deeside project that so many of you came along too!

We helped keep Flintshire tidy with our Litter Pick Days, thanks to the park Rangers at Wepre for arranging the equipment for us to run these events.

Jack Sergeant MS came over for a cuppa in our new shop and to discuss our work in the community, offering his support.

We built some strong relationships with some superb organisations in the area who are also Social Enterprises. As part of the Flintshire Social Enterprise Stakeholder Group, we helped the Social Enterprise Sector in Flintshire receive national recognition as a ‘Social Enterprise Place'.

Throughout the year our Walking for Wellbeing project has supported local businesses such as HFT's Caffi Dai, VC Hub CIC's Caafi Naafi and Kathleen and May Heritage Centre's Riverside Cafe. Where if they had made cake, well, we had to help by clearing the stock!
'Walking for Wellbeing' has been well supported and has taken in many routes across Deeside. Amazing to have so many places to walk in a green space.

We have had some big highs at our projects:

Queensferry War Memorial Institute hosts Musical Mates - which continues to grow following support from the North Wales Police Crime Commissioner. Digging Deeside had a great start to the year and into the summer we had some lovely fresh food to share with our group. The onions, garlic, chard, lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli, and potatoes went down a treat with everyone. We thank the National Lottery for their support with Digging Deeside.

Unfortunately Storm Babet hit which devastated our community plot with flooding. Out of every storm there is a golden sky, and we are delighted to say that the support from Connah's Quay Labour Club has been amazing, giving the project group a place to still get together and socialise. We thank them whole heartedly for their support. We will still need some community support to get the allotment project back up and running early next year, but to know they have a space to get together is the main thing presently for our beneficiaries.

There is few things we can always guarantee will be at our projects – A warm welcome, friends you haven’t met yet, tea, coffee, and biscuits. We must thank once again the Connah’s Quay Labour Club, but also Queensferry Asda and Connah’s Quay Morrison’s Community Champions for their donations to our refreshments.

We hope everyone who has attended our projects has loved every minute like we have.

This year has been a difficult one for RainbowBiz and the whole community came together to support our annual Festive Doo. To enable our team to host this fabulous party for the people we have supported this year. We cannot thank everyone enough.

We would like to thank:

Connah's Quay Town Council

Shotton Town Council

North Wales Police

Also, individual community members all who donated time, money, food and support with activities. Special thank you to Stephen Cain Photography.

A huge thanks to our staff and volunteers, our Patron Lord Barry Jones and Lady Janet Jones, Father Christmas who dropped by to give out some gifts to all the people we support, family and friends.

So many people made our party possible. We honestly didn't think we were going to be able to have a party this year due to increasing costs and the current financial climate.

We are overwhelmed and very grateful for everyone's help with this.

Here's to RainbowBiz CIC's 10th year in 2024!!

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best Wishes
Sue, Sarah, Ian & David.
