Lord Mayor Invites Residents to a Summer of Discovery, Friendship and Family Fun

From uncovering hidden treasures and fascinating stories to celebrating friendship and community spirit, the Lord Mayor of Chester is opening the doors of the historic Chester Town Hall this summer with a series of events designed to bring people together.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, a family looking for a summer adventure, or simply curious about the city you call home, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Margaret Parker, said:

"Chester Town Hall is one of our city's most treasured buildings, and this summer we're inviting residents and visitors of all ages to come inside and explore its history, heritage and hidden gems. These events are all about bringing people together, celebrating our communities and creating opportunities to learn, connect and have fun. I look forward to welcoming you."

Step Behind the Scenes of Chester's Civic History:

Visitors will have a rare opportunity to take a journey through centuries of Chester's civic heritage during the popular 'Tales from the Parlour and Treasures of the Lord Mayor's Chamber' talks. Guests will hear fascinating stories behind the Lord Mayor's and Sheriff's regalia, view historic civic treasures up close and enjoy exclusive access to the Lord Mayor's Parlour within Chester Town Hall.

The one-hour sessions provide a unique glimpse into traditions that have shaped the city for generations and are perfect for anyone with an interest in local history.

Celebrate International Friendship Day:

As part of the Lord Mayor's civic theme, 'Harmony in Our Communities', Chester Town Hall will also host a special International Friendship Day event on 27th July.

The afternoon will celebrate the friendships, connections and shared experiences that make Chester such a welcoming and vibrant city. Attendees can enjoy stories from Chester's past, discover civic treasures and meet new people in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Whether you're a lifelong resident, new to the area or simply looking to connect with others, everyone is welcome.

Young Explorers Wanted for Summer Treasure Hunt:

Families are also invited to take part in the Lord Mayor's Summer Treasure Hunt, an exciting adventure through Chester Town Hall.

Young explorers will follow clues, solve puzzles and discover hidden features throughout the historic building while learning more about Chester's rich heritage along the way.

The treasure hunt is suitable for children and young people up to the age of 15 and promises a fun-filled activity during the school holidays. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and advance booking is essential.
