Improved play area now open at Woodfall Lane in Little Neston

Residents in Little Neston now have an improved play facility at Woodfall Lane, thanks to funding support from FCC Communities Foundation, Cheshire West & Chester Council and Neston Town Council.

The improvements include resurfacing, a fenced play area with new equipment and rubber safety surfacing, a fenced Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), an informal seating area and greenspace at the front of the site with new pathway connections, as well as an improved footpath alongside the play area and Woodfall Primary School.

To provide additional landscape improvements from the autumn, the Council will contact Woodfall Primary School regarding the possibility of pupils helping with bulb planting and landscaping to create a welcoming display at the front of the site.  Engagement with the local community is also planned to support the planting of additional trees around the site.

The front informal picnic area will remain temporarily closed for a couple of months to allow the grass seeding and landscaping to establish.

It is important that users of the new play facility take note of the COVID-19 guidance placed on additional site signage which provides advice for safe use.

Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “I speak on behalf of project partners and colleagues when I say how absolutely delighted I am that we now have an much-needed improved play area and open space at Woodfall Lane for the community to enjoy.

I will be good to engage once again with the children at Woodfall Primary School and residents in the local community to support us with the additional landscaping and tree planning around the site

“Green spaces and play areas play an important role in our communities and the contribution they make to health and wellbeing has long been recognised. It is essential the quality of our play areas and green spaces is maintained and enhanced where possible.”
