Flintshire County Council is proud to be flying Green Flags once again after being named in the 2026 Green Flag Awards.
Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley and Bailey Hill have all been awarded the coveted Green Flag Award for 2026, recognising them as some of the very best green spaces in the UK.
Keep Wales Tidy announced today that a record 330 parks and green spaces across Wales have reached the high standards required to gain a coveted Green Flag for 2026. This includes 93 sites which achieved full Green Flag Award status and 237 who received a Green Flag Community Award. Fourteen of these sites also achieved the supplementary Green Heritage Site Accreditation, supported by Cadw, for demonstrating a commitment to preserving and promoting their unique history.
The Green Flags were awarded to Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley and Bailey Hill in recognition of being safe and secure, well-maintained and clean, having excellent environmental management, and being a welcoming place.
Councillor Chris Dolphin, Cabinet member for Environment, Regeneration, Countryside and Tourism said:
"We are absolutely delighted to have achieved Green Flag status at Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, and Bailey Hill again this year. This achievement reflects the immense effort and pride taken by the whole team who maintain and improve these spaces for the public to enjoy."
Flintshire County Council extends its deepest thanks to the site teams and the amazing network of volunteers who have contributed countless hours to the upkeep, conservation, and community engagement that make these parks so special. Thanks to their hard work and commitment, each site has been officially recognised as a leading green space—open, accessible, and sustainable. Especially Friends of Bailey Hill and Mold Town Council, Friends of Wepre Park and our valued park stakeholders, plus Greenfield Valley Trust and its supportive volunteers.
Wepre Park continues to be a beacon for biodiversity and family recreation.
Greenfield Valley offers a rich mix of industrial heritage and vibrant wildlife.
Bailey Hill, with its historical significance and scenic charm, remains a peaceful green haven in the heart of Mold.
The awards are recognised in more than 20 countries and reward the very best parks and green spaces, so visitors know wherever there is a Green Flag, they’re visiting an exceptional place with the highest standards.
Owen Derbyshire, Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive said:
“Wales is truly setting the standard when it comes to outstanding green spaces, with 330 places recognised in this year’s Green Flag Awards. From flagship parks and vibrant woodlands to historic sites and community spaces, Wales has shown year after year that it has an unwavering commitment to nurturing inclusive green spaces that can be enjoyed by everyone.
“Green spaces play a vital part in supporting the health and wellbeing of communities across Wales and we’d like to thank all the staff and volunteers who play a part in ensuring these special places thrive and can be enjoyed by all.”
