Erin Brown, a dedicated Flint RNLI volunteer, has been recognised for her commitment to saving lives at sea after being named Flintshire Young Volunteer of the Year.
Erin received the award at the Flintshire Local Volunteer Council (FLVC) Volunteer Awards on Friday, 5 June. Held during National Volunteer Week, these awards recognise the outstanding achievements of volunteers across the county.
Erin was nominated in recognition of her dedication, professionalism and commitment to volunteering with the RNLI.
After completing extensive training, Erin received her pager shortly after her 18th birthday, marking the start of her active service. In the three years since, she has played a key role in supporting the charity’s lifesaving work and has received letter of thanks for her actions during service call in September 2024.
Wayne Kerfoot, Flint Lifeboat Operations Manager, said:
‘We are incredibly proud of Erin and everything she has achieved. Her dedication, resilience and willingness to help others reflect the values of the RNLI.’
‘This award is thoroughly deserved and is a testament to the hard work she has put into her training and service.’
Erin Brown, Flint RNLI Volunteer said:
‘I am really honoured to receive this award. Being part of the RNLI means a lot to me, and I am grateful to be part of such a supportive team making a difference in our community.’
The RNLI relies on volunteers to continue its lifesaving work around the UK and Ireland, and awards such as this shine a light on the inspiring individuals who give their time to help others.
