Cheshire West and Chester has now passed a major landmark, with over 100,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine having been administered, and more than 5,000 people receiving their second dose of the vaccine.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “The Council is extremely proud to be working alongside the NHS partners and vaccine partners in the delivery of the vaccine programme.
“Reaching the 100,000 milestone for vaccine doses in Cheshire West and Chester is a fantastic achievement and is the result of a collaborative team effort from a number of organisations and partners.
“I urge everyone in the borough to continue to do all you can to stop the spread of COVID-19. Always remember hands, face, space - we must always be on our guard against this virus. Let’s turn this around.”
Ian Ashworth, Director of Public Health at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Reaching 100,000 vaccine doses is a major effort by all parties involved, I am delighted that we have reached this milestone.
“While the vaccination is continuing to be rolled out, it is as important as ever to remember to keep washing your hands regularly, cover your face when in an enclosed space and keep social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19, we mustn’t let our guard down.”
People aged 65 and above who have not had their COVID-19 vaccination can book an appointment at: www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination, where they can choose a time slot and location that suits them.
People who are eligible, but without online access, can call 119 to book a vaccination between 7am and 11pm seven days a week. People are also able to book appointments on behalf of people they care for if they are unable to do it themselves.
