Cheshire West and Chester Council’s StreetCare team has completed this year’s summer floral displays in Chester’s Grosvenor Park - a stunning tribute to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This year’s theme includes an impressive wicker sculpture of Her Majesty The Queen, complete with two of the Queen’s guards standing by next to her.
The Council’s Environmental Commissioning team worked on the project with local artist Sarah Gallagher-Hayes, who runs her own company, Twigtwisters.
The sculptures are complemented by planting with red, white and blue flowers to enhance the patriotic theme.
The displays will soon be joined by a special Jubilee Throne for visitors to try out and become park royalty for the day. Perhaps taking a photo for social media, using the hashtags #ParkRoyality and #Grosvenor Park.
Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Climate Emergency, Councillor Matt Bryan said: “Public parks have played a key part in the celebration and the commemoration of royal jubilees since the Victorian Era.
Grosvenor Park, as one of the finest and most complete examples of Victorian parks in the North West of England, is a fitting location for such a wonderful display to honour The Queen. I’m sure visitors and residents will enjoy the superb sculptures and fabulous flowers.
“I’d like to thank our park operations team and all the volunteers who have played an important part in creating these wonderful floral displays around the sculptures. Everything looks perfect, and is fit for a Queen!”
