Here are the latest results for the Chester & Wirral Football League...
It was a week of high drama and goal-fests across the CWFL, headlined by the confirmation of the Dee 106.3 League Cup finalists. Last Wednesday Upton JFC Reserves marched into the showpiece at Chester’s Deva Stadium on Saturday 9th May following a 6-0 demolition of Cestrian Alex; Jord Mather led the charge with a brace, supported by strikes from Jack Rolo, Josh Robinson, Matty Wood, and Aaron Rowland. They will face Newton Athletic FC, who ground out a 2-0 semi-final win over rivals Blacon Reserves thanks to goals from Liam Bradley and Tom Royal.
The goals continued to flow on the same night in the Queensferry Sports Premier Division as Chester Nomads 3rds and Handbridge shared the points in a 3-3 thriller. Macaulay Salter, Zaac Caveney, and George Cornes all found the net for Nomads, while Joe Davis, Ryan Bradley, and Tadgh Gregory ensured Handbridge earned a share of the spoils. Later in the week.
In the Olympic Trophies Championship, FC Farndon’s title aspirations took a hit as Elton FC pulled off a stunning 5-1 upset. Dom Jones hit a double, while Harry Eardley, Thaun Wright, and Josh Gregory all joined the party, leaving Sam Davenport with Farndon’s solitary consolation
Friday night’s lone fixture saw Eastham Vets and Neston Vets heading for a stalemate until Liam Jeacock settled it for Nomads with a late rocket.
On Saturday Blacon Reserves recovered from their cup exit to beat Hoole Rovers 6-3, with Cam Fleet and Tyler Owen both bagging doubles alongside goals from Adam Jones and Rhys Roberts. Chester Nomads 3rds also enjoyed a successful weekend, defeating Upton JFC 2-0 courtesy of Ben Coward and John Patten.
The Tarvin Precision Vets divisions provided plenty of talking points, starting in Division One where Capenhurst Villa Vets dented Sefton’s title charge with a 5-2 win. Josh Russell was the standout with a hat-trick, supported by a Pete Barnett brace.
In Division Three, Vineyard Vets were clinical in an 8-0 rout of Waverton Vets; Shaun Rooney and Jason Rigby both netted twice, with Tony Langrell, Tommy Carroll, and Carl Orok also on the scoresheet.
Division Four saw Crossway Vets edge past Hoole Vets 2-1 through Kevin Leech and Phil Radcliffe, despite Rich Whincup’s effort for Hoole. Meanwhile, Wirral Masters beat Nags Head Bunbury 2-0 thanks to Chris Carress and an own goal.
In Division Five, leaders Cheshire Vikings continued their scoring streak in an 8-2 win over Frodsham Park Reserves. Michael Large bagged a hat-trick, with Michael Shaw, Shaun Anderson, Phil Beasley, Ben Fitzgerald, and Jon Pomphrett all scoring, while Chris Davies and Nick Foxon replied for Frodsham. Finally, Saughall Colts Vets and Hoole Wanderers played out a 2-2 draw, with Dave Roberts and Mike Taylor netting for Saughall against strikes from Will Campbell and Andy Evans.
