Kingsley resident Lisa Easton conquered the London Marathon in support of the National Deaf Children’s Society on Sunday 23rd April.
Lisa finished the marathon distance of 26.2 miles in a time of four hours, 55 minutes.
She has raised over £2,500 to date for the charity, which supports the UK’s 50,000 deaf children and their families.
She chose to run for the National Deaf Children’s Society because she herself has hearing loss and the charity is important to her.
Lisa, 46, lives in Kingsley with Husband Steve and children Amber, 17, and Jake, 15. She is an Assistant Headteacher and PE Teacher at a Secondary school in Wrexham.
She said:
“To run the London Marathon has always been a dream of mine, but what made is special was that I was able to help others too in doing it. Crossing the finish line was one of proudest moments of life. The tears certainly came at the end when I realised I’d done it. I was overwhelmed with happiness.
“The National Deaf Children’s Society is an amazing charity that does so much to support deaf children and young people. I wanted to raise money to go towards helping deaf young people, whether at home or at school.”
Melissa Jones, of the National Deaf Children’s Society’s fundraising team, added:
“I want to say a massive congratulations to Lisa for taking on and conquering the London Marathon for us. We’re so proud of her.
“The National Deaf Children’s Society is dedicated to supporting the UK’s 50,000 deaf children and their families. The efforts of selfless fundraisers like Lisa will help us to keep on doing our vital work, now and into the future.”
