Chester FC return to the Deva Stadium tomorrow, for the visit of Spennymoor Town in the Enterprise National League North.
The Blues have made the trip to The Brewery Field on a pair of occasions so far this term, the first being abandoned in late November due to a waterlogged pitch with the Blues holding a two-goal advantage in the second-half, and the rearranged fixture which saw three points travel back to Cheshire thanks to goals from Pat Jones and Fin Roberts.
Our previous meeting with the Moors at the Deva also brought success, a 1-0 win last January courtesy of a late strike from Dan Mooney.
The Opposition
Spennymoor currently sit one point and one place behind the Calum McIntyre’s side in the National League North, six points behind the play-off pace at present.
Recent results have yielded hope of a late surge towards the top seven, with three wins from their last four outings, following a prior run of just one victory in nine encounters.
Midweek action saw the Moors earn all three points at home against Chorley, as they held out for a clean sheet following Rob Ramshaw’s fourth minute strike.
The Gaffers
Graeme Lee, who had been at the helm for over two years since January 2024, was dismissed earlier this month after a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Darlington at The Brewery Field.
His interim replacements have been announced as Tommy Miller and Matty Dolan, who will work as a pair whilst the search for a permanent boss is completed.
Miller is no stranger to Moors supporters, having previously been the Assistant Manager at the club for over four years between 2016-21, and then the Manager for seven months in the latter part of 2021.
His partner, Dolan, has made over 100 appearances for the club since his move in early 2024, and will continue to play alongside his new management duties.
One to Watch
Talisman Glen Taylor has continued to shine in his 11th successive season at The Brewery Field, with a tally of 16 league goals to his name so far this term.
In his distinguished career at the club, Taylor has recorded over 200 goals, picked up numerous Player of the Year awards, and played a major role in two promotions, which arrived in consecutive campaigns between 2015-17.
The 35-year-old has netted in three of the Moors’ last four outings, with a brace in their 3-1 success over Peterborough Sports, and one in a 2-0 victory on the road against Leamington.
