The Sustainable Transport Taskforce Group meet for the first time on Thursday 12 November (from 6pm to 8pm) and are asking for the public to submit any questions for consideration. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions the meeting will be held as a virtual session using Microsoft Teams.
The Taskforce will consider the potential for sustainable transport projects that aim to make a positive contribution to; public health, tackling the climate emergency, improving air quality, improving accessibility, reducing congestion, achieving value for money, helping economic recovery from COVID-19 and tackling transport poverty and inequality of access.
The group will seek to achieve consensus and make recommendations to the Council on ways to improve delivery of ambitious inclusive walking, cycling and public transport projects in Cheshire West and Chester. This will include for example the recent ‘trial active travel lanes’ along the Liverpool Road and A51 Boughton areas. The group is independent and involves a wide membership including representatives from local resident, business and cycling groups, among others.
Interested parties can attend the meeting remotely to listen in to proceedings (limit of 250 attendees). The meeting will also be recorded and available for wider viewing shortly afterwards. If you would like to join, please register in advance via the email: TransportStrategy@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.
The important area of Governance will be the focus of this first meeting, however there will be some time set aside at the beginning of the meeting for questions from the public and interested parties.
Please submit any questions to: TransportStrategy@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk by 12pm on Thursday, 12 November 2020.
The taskforce will answer as many questions as possible within the allocated time and any that are not answered at the meeting will be responded to subsequently.
Please note that the Council has already produced a set of answers to frequently asked questions which can be found here, and so it is recommended that you consider such when preparing any new request https://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/residents/transport-and-roads/highways/major-road-schemes/active-travel/active-travel.aspx
