Residents urged to be vigilant following spate of thefts from vehicles in Ellesmere Port

Officers are warning residents in Ellesmere Port to remain vigilant and ensure their vehicles are secure following a spate of thefts from vehicles in the town.

Over the recent days, police have been called to a number of reports of thefts from insecure motor vehicles in the Great Sutton and Little Sutton area.

These include incidents on Spinney Drive, Overpool Road, Jenkinson Lane and Hope Farm Road.

Enquiries in relation to the incidents are ongoing additional patrols are being undertaken in the local area.

Detective Sergeant Tom Philpotts of Ellesmere Port Proactive CID said:

“Enquiries in relation to these incidents are ongoing and from our initial enquiries, we believe that the incidents involve one man, who was possibly riding a bike, who has been attempting to access insecure vehicles.

“Additional patrols have been deployed to the local area we’re also asking residents in the area to check their CCTV and doorbell footage to see if they have any video footage which may aid our investigation.

“In addition, we’re also urging residents in the area to make sure their vehicles are kept secure at all times.”
