Cheshire Constabulary has taken part in a national operation aimed at disrupting vehicle crime, resulting in more than 30 arrests.
The force carried out intelligence-led enforcement activity between Monday 28 September and Sunday 4 October, as part of the third Operation Alliances, funded by the Home Office and led by the National Police Chiefs’ Council.
Cheshire Constabulary carried out deployments across the county, with the aim of reducing the theft of and from motor vehicles, as well as offering crime prevention advice and targeting other vehicle-related offending.
Across the week, activity resulted in:
- More than 30 arrests linked to vehicle crime, associated offending, road traffic offences and organised criminality.
- Multiple stolen vehicle recoveries and vehicle seizures.
- Recovery of a stolen quad bike.
- Execution of warrants linked to criminality and vehicle offending.
- Extensive community engagement activity across supermarkets, retail parks, community hubs and public events.
- Enforcement against ghost plates, cloned vehicles, uninsured drivers and disqualified drivers.
Superintendent Robert McLoughlin, Operational Lead for Cheshire Constabulary for Operation Alliances 3 said:
"Vehicle crime has a significant impact on victims and communities, affecting people's livelihoods, finances and sense of security.
“Throughout Operation Alliances 3, officers and staff from across Cheshire have worked together to proactively target offenders, recover stolen vehicles and property, disrupt criminal activity and provide practical crime prevention advice to the public.
“The operation resulted in 36 arrests, 10 vehicle seizures, the recovery of stolen vehicles and property, and extensive engagement activity with residents, businesses, and motorists across the county.
“Alongside robust enforcement, officers delivered crime prevention events as well as targeted patrols and awareness campaigns, designed to help residents better protect their vehicles and reduce opportunities for offending.
“Vehicle crime remains a priority for Cheshire Police, and we will continue to work with local communities, partner agencies and neighbouring forces to identify offenders, pursue those involved in organised criminality and protect our communities.
“We would encourage vehicle owners to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, use additional security measures where appropriate and continue reporting suspicious activity to police."
