Flintshire County Council is asking residents to share their views on a proposed new policy designed to support fair and consistent decision-making in Social Services.
The draft Sustainable Person-Centred Choices Policy sets out how Social Services can continue to support people to have a voice and maintain control over the support they receive while ensuring public resources are used fairly and sustainably.
The proposed policy has been developed in response to growing demand for support and increasing financial pressures facing services.
It aims to provide a clear framework to help ensure decisions are made fairly, consistently and transparently, and is not intended to limit people’s choices or replace professional judgement.
Councillor Christine Jones, Cabinet Member for Social Services and Wellbeing, said:
“Ensuring residents have a choice in the care and support they receive is at the heart of what we do.
“With demand for our services continuing to grow, it is important that we have a clear and consistent approach that ensures fairness for everyone while making the best use of public resources.
“We are keen to hear from residents, people who access social care services, carers and other professionals to help ensure this policy reflects the needs of our communities and supports the continued delivery of sustainable, high-quality social care.”
