Here are the latest results from the Chester & Wirral Football League...
CWFL Life Members Cup first round action continued Friday night as Eastham Vets edged a classic against Higher Bebington Kelma. Goals from Kelma's Jon Paul Wheadon, Craig Cairns, and Lee Ralfe looked to have won it, despite replies from Chay Dysart and Joseph Crane. However, Dysart hit a dramatic last-minute equaliser to make it 3-3, before Eastham keeper Paul Crane saved two spot-kicks to seal a 4-3 penalty shootout win.
Two other cup ties were decided on Friday evening. A Darren Lloyd brace was enough to secure a narrow 2-1 victory for Tarporley Vets over Shore Villa Vets, who replied through Matty Basolu. Meanwhile, Blacon Vets had a much more comfortable night, hitting eleven without reply against Frodsham Town Vets. Joe Henry led the charge with a hat-trick, Ellis Moore netted twice, and James Henry, Matty Mackin, Kev Garland, Matty Hallal, Sam Henry, and James Green completed the scoring.
New Brighton Riptide turned on the style with an incredible 19-2 victory over AFC Waverton. Ben Morris led the goal-fest with six, while Billy Rainbow was not far behind with five. Jamie Evans, Mark McNoon, and Declan Wray all bagged doubles, with Leighton Clarke and Jamie Payne adding one apiece.
Cup action continued Saturday, as Blacon Reserves secured a comprehensive 7-1 away win at Cheshire Vikings Vets. Ben Malone led the way with a brace, while Louie Gilmartin, Harry Shannon, Max Bragg, Billy Fennell, and Jack Abraham all contributed. Finally, doubles from Isaac Murphy and Jo Faluyi, plus a Jake Barlow goal, saw West Kirby United U18s defeat Wirral Masters Vets 5-3 to progress.
Back in the league, CWFL Queensferry Premier Division leaders Chester Nomads Thirds took full advantage of second-placed New Brighton’s cup commitments to open a three-point lead at the top. They secured a 6-1 home victory over Whitegate United FC, with James Lloyd continuing his fine form by bagging a four-goal haul. Callum Caulfield and George Green supplemented the scoring, while Shaun Howarth netted Whitegate’s lone response.
Elsewhere in the division, Handbridge secured their first league win of the season with a narrow 2-1 victory over Elton JFC. Jack Evans and Ryan Bradley scored the all-important goals, while Harry Eardley claimed Elton’s consolation.
In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship, traveling teams took maximum points in both fixtures. The Grange condemned Hoole Rovers to a 4-2 home defeat thanks to a hat-trick from Joseph Hancox and a Thomas Davies strike. Meanwhile, Willaston returned from Wallasey Village with an impressive 5-2 victory. Tom Mairs did the damage with a hat-trick, supported by a Dan Hoole double, while Sam Hackett and Caden Massey replied for the hosts.
In the Vets Premier Division, Hartford Vets continued their fine form on home soil, accounting for Chester Nomads Vets in a tight 3-2 win. Tom Yarwood, Gary Goodwin, and Mike Jones were all on target for Hartford, making replies from Jack Delgado and Ed Moss in vain.
With rivals Eastham in cup action, Queens Park Vets took over at the top of the CWFL Tarvin Precision Championship table. They achieved the summit thanks to a 3-0 home victory over Frodsham Vets, with David McElroy, David Jones, and Matty O’Shea all getting themselves onto the scoresheet.
