Foster Care Matters supports Foster Care Fortnight

The national campaign celebrates foster parents, their families and the children that they care for.  The theme this year is ‘The Power of Relationships’ and it emphasises the importance of strong, trusting relationships in successful fostering. 

Foster care plays a critical role in providing stability and support for children in need. Foster parents dedicate themselves to creating safe and nurturing environments, making a profound impact on the lives of the children they care for. Campaigns like Foster Care Fortnight aim to recruit new foster parents and highlight the ongoing need for foster families.

Foster Care Matters, based in Chester, knows becoming a foster parent is a rewarding journey that requires more than just a kind heart. While Foster Care Matters provides extensive support and training, it all starts with you.

A good foster parent understands that children in care will have experienced trauma and loss. This requires a deeper level of empathy, patience, resilience, and commitment in providing a stable and loving environment. They are willing to learn and adapt to the unique needs of each child, offering consistent support and understanding.
