Here are the latest results from the Chester & Wirral Football League...
New Brighton Riptide got their season back on track on Friday evening, cementing their position at the summit of the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division with a 6-3 win over Elton JFC. Billy Rainbow took the plaudits with a clinical hat-trick, while Leighton Clarke bagged a brace and Jamie Payne completed the scoring. Harry Eardley struck twice and Daniel Nixon also found the net in reply, but it was not quite enough for Elton.
In the Tarvin Precision Vets League Division One, Wirral Masters produced a commanding performance to defeat Port Sunlight 4-0. Luke Brennan led the line with a double, supported by goals from Lee Doyle and Chris Carress. Meanwhile, a Division Three encounter saw Shore Villa edge past Frodsham Town Vets 4-3. The losers pushed them close, scoring through a Craig Worthington double and a Karl Carey penalty, but ultimately came up short.
Saturday’s action saw Chester Nomads thirds maintain their pursuit of the pace-setters. Fresh from defeating the league leaders last week, they recorded a comfortable 6-1 victory on the road at Upton JFC Reserves. James Lloyd scored twice, alongside goals from Trey Lattie, Will Jones, Tim Ashbrook and Charlie Orsler. Elsewhere, Blacon Youth Reserves returned from Whitegate United with a narrow 3-2-win courtesy of Joe Jones, Dan Ward and Ben Malone, despite Sam Eves and Darren Fox replying for the hosts.
The CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship produced a rare scoreless draw between leaders Runcorn Sports Development and Total Football Academy. Second-placed Poulton Vics missed the opportunity to close the gap, slipping to a 4-3 home defeat against Hoole Rovers FC. Jamie Swanton did the damage for the visitors with a fine hat-trick, added to by a Jake Gould strike. Alfie Naylor, Terry Newcomen and Finlay Cotgrave provided the home responses.
Cestrian Alex enjoyed a particularly productive afternoon in front of goal, defeating West Kirby FC U23s 12-2. Adie Graves claimed four of the goals, while Nial Peaker and Mike Taylor both scored hat-tricks. Mason Whelan and Aly Kasaar added doubles, alongside an unfortunate own goal. Finlay Cubbins and Layton Harding scored the consolations for the visitors.
The Grange continued their recent upturn in form by coming out on top in a nine-goal contest against Chester Development. Samuel Trainor scored twice, with Kendall Davis, Joseph Hancox, Harvey Kendall and Dillon Upton-Climo also on target. Bobby Bain’s double and a William Hayes goal replied for Chester.
Elsewhere in the fixture list, Willaston suffered a 2-1 home defeat to West Kirby United U18s, for whom Isaac Murphy and Josh Whelan scored to cancel out a Tom Mairs effort. It was a closer affair for Wallasey Village FC, who edged out West Kirby United 4-3. Ellis Blenkinsop struck twice, with William Hancox and Rylee West also scoring. Alex Davies scored twice and Shay Heller added another for West Kirby, but they could not rescue a point.
Back in the Vets League, Davenham Vets recorded a comprehensive 11-1 victory over Cheshire Vikings Vets in Division One. Jevin Douglas and Jay McQueen both scored hat-tricks, Oliver James hit a double, and Andrew Oakes, Thomas Sneyd and Ant Dolan completed the scoring, while Andy Watterson claimed the solitary reply. Meanwhile, Dee Rangers Vets ran out 3-2 winners against AFC Waverton Vets. Charles Coates struck twice and a Will McGovern effort sealed the points, making replies from Adam Forrester and Mike Andrews look academic.
Division Two action saw Frodsham Park Reserves Vets defeat Hoole Rangers Vets 3-2, with Thomas Whalley scoring twice and Simone Spinillo adding the third. Ash Hughes and Dan Jenks replied for Hoole. There was less between Tarporley Vets and Hoole Wanderers as the points were shared in a 1-1 draw, with Stephen Roberts’ opener cancelled out by James White.
Finally, in Division Three, Saughall Vets defeated Tarvin Athletic Vets 3-2 thanks to a Stephen Roberts hat-trick, which bested replies from Harry Muggeridge and Sean Taylor. Eastham Rangers Vets also enjoyed success on their travels, returning from Nags Head Bunbury with a 2-1-win courtesy of goals from David Borrill and James Ellis. Johnny Stubbs scored for the hosts.
