Here are the latest results from the Chester & Wirral Football League...
New Brighton Riptides saw their flawless start in the CWFL Queensferry Sport Premier Division come to a halt on Saturday. After winning their opening five matches to top the table, Riptide were beaten by an in-form Chester Nomads 3rds. Will Jones proved the difference, netting four times alongside a solitary effort from James Lloyd. Despite goals from Owen McMahon, Ray Upton, and Leon Clarke, the league leaders could not salvage a point.
Elsewhere in the division, Upton JFC Reserves found their scoring touch during a 5-2 away victory at Blacon Reserves. Max Proctor led the line with a brace, while Aaron Rowland, Chris Brett, and Jamie Robinson completed the scoring for the visitors. Dylan Owens and Reece Marsh provided the replies for Blacon.
In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship, Poulton Vics suffered a setback to their title ambitions with a 7-2 defeat at Total Football Academy FC. Nathaniel Jones and Sam Cavanagh both claimed hat-tricks for the hosts, with Ellis Gerrard adding the seventh. Alfie Naylor and Evan Perry scored the consolation goals for Vics.
League leaders Runcorn Sports maintained their momentum by securing a 7-0 victory over Chester Nomads Development. The goals were distributed evenly across the team, with Jorje Orme, Jack Hunter, Joe Shiel-Roberts, James O’Connor, Ryan Bazley, Zach Comer, and Shane Anderson all finding the back of the net.
Local bragging rights went to West Kirby Black, who defeated neighbours West Kirby United 4-1. Isaac Murphy scored twice, supported by strikes from Lewis Corrigan and Kieran Jones, while Joe Carruthers scored United's solitary goal. Meanwhile, Hoole Rovers beat Willaston 3-1 through goals from Jamie Swanton, Jack Griffiths, and Niall Hall, with Tom Mairs responding for the visitors. The Grange earned their first win of the campaign, defeating Cestrian Alex 2-0 thanks to goals from Dillon Upton and Jack McIntosh.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Premier Division, leaders Birkenhead tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing away at Hartford. Goals from Luke Wilkinson and Liam Henderson secured the points for the hosts, nullifying an Anthony Gardener strike in a result which blows the title race wide open. Higher Bebington Kelma wasted no time making it three wins from three as they defeated Chester Nomads Vets 6-3. Craig Cairns and JP Wheadon both bagged doubles, while Jase Ashworth and Lee Davey also contributed to the tally. Dan Delgado scored twice and Ste Cairns replied for Nomads. Ellesmere Port Red Lions secured a narrow 2-1 victory against Blacon Vets thanks to a Ste Armitage brace, which cancelled out a James Henry effort.
Friday evening's fixture in the Tarvin Precision Vets Division saw Eastham Vets temporarily move to the summit of the table, securing a narrow 1-0 away victory at Neston Nomads Vets via a Chay Dysart goal. However, Queens Vets reclaimed top spot on Saturday afternoon by recording a fine 5-0 home win against Crewe Vets. An Andrew Bolton brace was complemented by goals from Andy Owens, Mike McGree, and Matty O’Shea to restore Queens to the apex on goal difference.
