Residents are being invited to help celebrate a major milestone as Chester's Grosvenor Museum prepares to mark its 140th birthday in October.
Since opening its doors in 1886, the museum has welcomed generations of visitors, preserving and sharing the stories, heritage and culture that make Chester unique.
To mark the anniversary, a programme of special activities and online content will take place throughout October, celebrating the museum's rich history and the role it continues to play in the life of the city.
As part of the celebrations, local personalities and well-known faces from across the region have recorded special birthday messages which will be posted on the Council’s social media channels throughout October.
Whether it is a favourite childhood school visit, a memorable exhibition, volunteering experience or family photograph, the museum would love to hear stories that have connected people to the Grosvenor Museum over the past 140 years. Get involved and share your story on their social media posts.
Councillor Lisa Denson Cabinet Member for a Fairer Future (Poverty, Public Health and Museums), said:
"The Grosvenor Museum has been at the heart of Chester's cultural life for 140 years and has helped generations of people discover the fascinating history of our city and borough.
"This anniversary is an opportunity not only to celebrate the museum itself, but also the people whose stories, memories and experiences have been part of its journey. We would love residents to get involved and help us mark this special occasion. If you haven’t visited the museum, please do go!"
Museum staff are also planning a series of exhibitions, object spotlights, historical photographs and behind-the-scenes content that will be shared throughout the anniversary month.
