Two men arrested for drugs offences following concerns from local residents

Officers from Ellesmere Port have arrested two men for drug dealing following information from the local community.

Over recent weeks officers have been contacted by several residents reporting issues with an off-road electric bike in the Rossmore area of the town.

Following the reports plain clothed officers conducted an operation in the area on Friday 21 July.

During the operation, the electric bike which had been causing the issues was located and seized in Wharfe Lane area. During a search of the vehicle officers recovered several snap bags containing cannabis.

The rider and passenger from the bike, both 18-year-old local men, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of drugs offences.

Following their arrest, officers conducted at a nearby address where officers located around 100 snap bags of cannabis along with other drug dealing paraphernalia.

Both teenagers were subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. The pair have since been released on conditional bail until Thursday 5 October.

Chief Inspector Paul Fegan of Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit said:

Firstly I would like to thank the local community for coming forward and reporting their concerns.

“As a result of the of the information they provided we’ve been able to seize a quantity or illegal drugs and arrested two men who we suspect have been dealing in the local area.

“Illegal drugs have a detrimental impact on communities and illegal motor bikes are a danger to road users. As such, removing them and those involved in supplying them from our town is of vital importance.

“As this incident demonstrates, we will act upon intelligence provided to us and I would encourage residents who have concerns about this type of harmful activity in their community to come forward to police with any information they have.“
