A popular Chester-based violinist is set to return to Chester Town Hall next month with his orchestra, for two concerts celebrating Mother's Day.
Following on from the sell-out success of his Christmas concerts, violinist Philip Chidell is set to stage two special concerts at Chester Town Hall on Mother's Day, Sunday 15th March. By popular request, there will be a matinée performance at 2.30pm as well as a performance at 7.30pm. The concerts will once again see Philip leading his 20-strong orchestra of talented young musicians from across the North-West as they perform a special programme celebrating motherhood, alongside timeless classics.
Reflecting on his return to Chester Town Hall, Philip said:
"Chester Town Hall is a wonderful space to perform in, and Mother’s Day felt like the perfect moment to share music that’s expressive, romantic and full of warmth. It’s very much a celebration for everyone – so yes, fathers are also allowed."
Audiences can expect a mix of popular classical favourites, film themes, music from the West End, Broadway and more.
Philip began studying the violin aged six. Two years later, he was offered a place at the prestigious Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, becoming their youngest student at the time. Philip was soon performing around the UK, and at 13 played for the first time as a soloist with an orchestra. He has performed in venues including the Bridgewater Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Manchester Cathedral and St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Philip set up his orchestra 18 months ago, fulfilling a long-held dream. Together, they have now staged seven concerts in Chester, attracting large, enthusiastic audiences each time.
