The Cheshire village of Farndon came alive with festive cheer, as the local independent business community hosted the first-ever Top Farm Christmas Weekend.
Following Friday evening’s Christmas tree lights switch on, on Saturday afternoon the courtyard at Top Farm was opened as an artisan market filled with local creativity. Independent makers and small businesses from the wider Barnston Estate offered gifts, homeware, flowers, crafts and festive treats.
As dusk fell, the atmosphere turned cosy and magical with a fire pit to keep warm and to toast marshmallows on and the scent of mulled drinks and delicious food filling the air.
There was also live music from local artist Paul Mannion which added to the atmosphere.
On Sunday afternoon everyone gathered again to watch the Christmas film Elf, the community-voted festive film.
Proceeds from the ticket sale are going to this year’s chosen charity, Soul Kitchen Chester, a voluntary charity providing food and support to those experiencing homelessness and food poverty.
The Christmas event followed on from a successful Summer Social which took place in May when a dozen businesses that make up Top Farm teamed up. The Top Farm business community includes specialists in beauty, hair, food, flowers, gifting, interiors and homeware.
Helen Knox, co-founder of interior designers Lewis Knox, and one of the organisers, said:
“After a successful Top Farm Summer Social earlier in the year, we wanted to follow it up with a Christmas Weekend. It was an amazing few days and so well supported.”
Barnston Estate Manager Ed Barnston said:
“We’re delighted that the Top Farm business community is building on the success of their Summer Social.
“It was a truly magical way to start the holiday season, and I’d like to thank everyone who helped to make it such a success.”
