Flintshire County Council is making a change to its garden waste collection service for 2026/27, to help ensure collections are efficient and reliable for residents.
All customers who subscribe to the service will receive a new yellow sticker for their bin. The current RFID sticker will no longer be valid and will not be used for collections during the new service period.
Once a resident has successfully subscribed, they will receive a sticker pack with instructions within 10 days. Residents are asked to place the new yellow sticker on their garden waste bin as instructed to ensure their bin continues to be collected.
The change will help crews quickly and clearly identify subscribed bins, supporting smoother rounds and reducing the risk of missed collections.
Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet member for Waste and Transportation, said:
“This change is about making the garden waste service as reliable and efficient as possible for residents. Moving to a new sticker system will help our crews identify bins far more easily and keep collections running smoothly.
“We encourage anyone who wants to benefit from the service to subscribe in good time so they receive their new sticker before the collection period begins.”
Alongside the usual fortnightly collections for nine months of the year, the service will now include monthly collections in December 2026, January 2027, and February 2027.
Brown bin collection dates will only appear on the ‘Check Your Bin Day’ portal for residents with an active, paid subscription.
By subscribing, you are helping us turn garden waste into something valuable. Instead of sending it to landfill or incineration the Council transforms it into a nutrient-rich soil conditioner at our Greenfield Composting site. The compost is then made available free of charge to residents at our five Household Recycling Centres.
The annual cost of the garden waste subscription for 2026 is £38 (regardless of payment date).
