Flint RNLI’s annual firework display, held at Flint Castle on Friday 7th November, lit up the night sky in a spectacular event that brought the community together and raised vital funds to support the RNLI’s lifesaving work.
In the midst of the event preparations, UK Coastguard tasked Flint RNLI volunteers to assist Coastguard Rescue Officers in recovering a submerged liferaft. Flint lifeboat was launched from Connah’s Quay Dock, but on arrival at the scene, the liferaft was found to be fully submerged, and the crew were stood down. Thankfully, the callout did not delay the evening’s preparations.
The event officially began when Flint Town Mayor, Cllr Russell Davies, lit Barbara’s Beacon, followed by a dazzling fireworks display set from within Flint Castle’s historic walls.
The event was made possible through the generous support of local businesses and community organisations, including Dee Communication, Flintshire Countryside Services, Mediquip, NR Glaziers, The Renegade Group and Flint Town Council. Further supported by volunteers from Flint Coastguard, Rotary International, Raynet, St John Ambulance, Andy’s Man Club, and Flint Litter Pickers all playing a vital role in ensuring the event’s safety and success.
James Davies, Flint RNLI Helm and Event Organiser, said:
“It’s wonderful to see the community coming together to support such an important cause. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters, the funds raised will help keep our lifeboats running and our crews ready to respond when they’re needed most.”
Flint RNLI lifeboat station was established in 1966.
