Chester University welcomes prospective students to their Virtual Open Days.

Prospective students can visit the University of Chester from their own homes in a series of Virtual Open Days on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13.

A virtual event for postgraduate students was held on June 11.

Choosing a university is a big decision and travelling the length and breadth of the country for open days has always been a key part of the process. With campuses currently closed to visitors, this year’s open days look a bit different, so the University has prepared some tips and advice on how to make the most of the virtual experience, which can be found here.

Director of Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Chester, Ric Bengree, explained: “Students looking at universities right now are in a really tricky position. They want to be able to make sure they apply to somewhere that’s safe but also somewhere they will enjoy, where they will be taught well and still have access to really important opportunities like work placements, sports, academic clubs and a social life. While we would love to be meeting students and their families in person, Virtual Open Days are an excellent way to find out more about our courses, view our campuses and talk to our students and lecturers.”

The Virtual Open Day is broken down into the main areas for prospective students to explore. These are:

Our courses where there will be information on the wide variety of courses the University offers. This will include a virtual ‘help-desk’ and live chat areas where programme leaders and support staff will give guidance; videos and leaflets; Lecture Hall – including Welcome Talks and presentations from the University’s academics which will be available to view throughout the day; Student Services giving advice and guidance on everything from accommodation, finance and funding through to the Students’ Union, fitness facilities and the Work Based Learning and Study Abroad teams; Campuses – with virtual tours of the University’s various sites; the opportunity to chat to current students about life at the University of Chester, and an International section for prospective students from abroad.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Eunice Simmons, and Eleanor Lewis, President of Chester Students’ Union, will also give welcome talks which can be viewed at any time.

The University of Chester, is a Top 10 What Uni university for employability, local life, support and International. The University has several sites across Chester, as well as sites in Warrington and Shrewsbury and offers more than 300 courses. Campus-based Open Days are also planned for October and November.
