Officers investigating a serious assault in Chester are appealing for any witnesses, or those with footage, to get in touch with them.

At 7.20pm on Thursday 6 June, police were called to reports of an assault near Abbots Nook, Chester. Officers attended the scene and found a 47-year-old man had suffered serious injuries. He remains in hospital at this time. A 33-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing, and officers are now appealing for any witnesses or those with any CCTV, video doorbell, or dashcam footage which could aid their investigation to get in touch. Detective Sergeant Justin Jones said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure the community that we are working hard to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened. “We believe it to be an isolated incident, and two people are currently in custody. “We would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with us. The same goes for anyone who may have any footage, or any further information which may aid our investigation."
