Every year Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) runs an awards event recognising the important role of volunteers.
This year, Cheshire West and Chester Council have added a new ‘Neighbourhood Pride’ award. Residents can now nominate the person, project or group they feel most proud of for the positive difference they have made in their community during 2026.
Leader of Cheshire West and Chester, Councillor Louise Gittins said:
“Across Cheshire West and Chester, people are stepping up, making a difference and showing their neighbourhood pride.
“This could be through celebrating local heritage and history, adopting and improving a community space or being that neighbour who brings the community together, these are the activities that make our borough unique and a place we feel proud to call home.
“From community groups, sports teams, ‘Friends Of’ groups, charities and voluntary groups to local heroes, who is the person, project or group you feel most proud of for the positive difference they’ve made in your community this year?”
Nominations are now open for people, projects and community groups who have made the biggest positive difference in their neighbourhood.
Alongside the CWVA’s ten volunteering award categories, the Council has sponsored the new ‘Neighbourhood Pride’ award. Nominations for all categories will be reviewed by CWVA before consideration by a judging panel including the Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire and representatives from the Council, CWVA, Chester Cathedral and other partners.
All submissions to the ‘Neighbourhood Pride’ award will also be added to the neighbourhood pride map on the Council website:

The closing date for nominations is Friday 6th November 2026.
The awards ceremony will take place at Eaton Hall on Thursday 26th November 2026.
