Chester FC Women were beaten by league leaders Wythenshawe in an entertaining game at Hollyhedge Park.
The runaway leaders, who had already scored 85 goals in just nine home matches this term, raced into a two goal lead inside 11 minutes.
However, the Blues hit back and cut the deficit in half on the quarter hour mark when Charlotte Locke fired home a fantastic free kick from distance.
Locke was then denied by the ‘keeper looking to repeat the trick midway through the half, before Wythenshawe restored their two-goal advantage in first half stoppage time.
Nevertheless, Chester again battled and in the fourth minute of time added on top scorer Molly Wood slid home to make it 3-2 at the break.
Martin Fitzsimons’ side put in a positive second half showing, and had chances to draw level, but Emily Jones was twice denied by the home goalkeeper.
Wythenshawe sealed the points on 82 minutes, before both sides ended with ten as an incident saw a home player and Locke both sent off late on.
