Greenfield Dock improvements to begin

Work is set to begin next week on a programme of health and safety enhancements at Greenfield Dock.

The project, funded through the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Fund, will also support the commercial cockling and fishing operations that take place on site, which are valuable for the local economy.

Councillor Chris Dolphin, Cabinet Member for Environment, Regeneration, Countryside and Tourism, said:

“This is great news for the Dock area and for Flintshire Coast Park overall.

“We want to support local businesses which rely upon Greenfield Dock and improve the visitor experience for everyone using the Dock.

“Futureproofing this coastal hub will improve health and safety, accessibility, and the balance between recreational and commercial activities.

“We hope everyone will enjoy the enhanced public realm, and we can continue to welcome users and visitors at this popular coastal hub for years to come. We look forward to seeing the changes.”

Improvement work is scheduled to begin on Monday, 9th February 2026 and is expected to be completed by mid-March 2026.

The externally funded upgrade of the Dock complements the wider vision of Flintshire Coast Park, set out in the Coast Park Management Plan.

It aims to move forward from the legacy of heavy industry and will provide a haven where wildlife and nature can thrive, sustainable businesses can flourish, supporting jobs and volunteering, and enhancing an important visitor destination.
