You can find out more about Ellesmere Port Pride in Place this Saturday, 11th April.
The event will take place at Westminster Community Centre, on Church Parade in Ellesmere Port, between 10am to 12noon.
The community drop in session is to find out more about the funding that can be used to improve the area and how residents can be involved.
A neighbourhood board for Ellesmere Port & Rossmore will decide where and how funding will be spent. Made up of local people, the Board will bring together residents, local businesses, grassroots campaigners, workplace representatives, faith, and community leaders and those with a deep connection to their area. The Board will be resident-led, to ensure it is representative of the community.
Councillor Lisa Denson, Cabinet Member for A Fairer Future said:
“Local residents know what changes their areas need, and that is why communities will be leading the delivery of the programme. This community-led approach means that decision-making sits with residents, giving people the power to shape the future of their area.
“We are now asking for applications to represent Ellesmere Port as Chair of the Board. The Chair will act as a champion, organising engagement that reaches out into the community, to ensure decision-making is community-led. The Chair will lead the process of recruiting and convening the Board, with the support of the Council and our local MP.”
Pride in Place is a UK-wide grant programme that is investing up to £20 million over 10 years in Ellesmere Port Town & Rossmore.
This long-term investment will support communities, addressing local priorities, and make lasting and positive changes for the area. The objectives of the programme are to build stronger communities, create thriving places and empower people to take back control.
The Pride in Place Programme gives communities the resources and tools to drive change themselves and shape their neighbourhoods for the better.
Applications to Chair the Board are now open to residents or those with connections to the Ellesmere Port and Rossmore area, submissions should include a CV plus 500 words supporting the application.
