Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Education Library Service has won a national award for the creative livery on its all-electric mobile vehicle, the ‘Book Bus’.
The service won Best Livery of the Year at the IVECO Mission Awards 2025, which is now in its fifth year.
The service was also delighted to be shortlisted in the alternative fuels category even though they did not win on the night.
The Book Bus is a fully-electric IVECO chassis and the body build was done by Torton Bodies Limited, Telford , who won Best Bodybuilder of the Year.
The creative design and innovative vehicle was the result of collaboration between the Council’s Education Library Service, Fleet Management and the Graphics team.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for a Fairer Future, Councillor Lisa Denson said:
“Schools and pupils love the creative livery on our Book Bus now and it has wowed the IVECO judges.
“We were up against some big names in transport but ours was chosen as the winner. Congratulations to everyone involved!”
The ELS Book Bus visits primary and special schools across the Cheshire region who subscribe to the Education Library Service.(Cheshire West, Cheshire East, Halton, Warrington, Stockport and Staffordshire).
It visits around 260 schools every year. It is a real highlight for schools, as pupils and staff are able to come onboard and choose new books for their school libraries and reading corners. Library staff often share stories and other activities with the pupils when they visit too to inspire their love of reading and learning.
