An exciting new employment support programme has just become available across Cheshire and Warrington to help people overcome barriers to work and move into paid, meaningful employment.
Connect to Work is delivered by Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire East Council and Warrington Borough Council, with funding from the Department for Work and Pensions.
The programme offers personalised, one‑to‑one support tailored to individual needs, connecting people with the right jobs, training and in‑work support to help them find work and stay in work.
Support is free of charge and designed around each person’s goals and circumstances.
Connect to Work supports adults who:
- Are out of work or at risk of leaving work
- Have a health condition or disability including autism and learning disability.
- Face complex or multiple barriers to employment
- Want support to move towards sustainable paid employment
Connect to Work works closely with local employers to support inclusive recruitment and retention, working with employers as partners – supporting both the individual and the business.
Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said:
“Connect to Work provides one-to-one tailored support, focusing on people’s needs, strengths and particular situations. Our teams put residents first, understand them and build their confidence through support and encouragement, whether they are ready for work today or need some help to get there.
“We are creating an inclusive economy in Cheshire, supporting employers to create diverse workforces. Cheshire West and Chester Council are leading on Connect to Work for the region, and we are working collaboratively with our partners at Cheshire East Council and Warrington Borough Council to make sure that people get the support they need wherever they are - regardless of local authority boundaries.”
The Connect to Work programme supports the Get Cheshire and Warrington Working Plan (GCWWP). This is a new three-year plan that has been agreed by the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority Shadow Board to help everyone in our area get into great jobs, learn new skills, and build a brighter future - no matter what the participant’s background is, or where they live in the Cheshire and Warrington area.
