Chester FC - Club Statement

Chester Football Club has been notified that a 44-year-old man has been banned from attending football matches for three years, after he confronted players and staff in the changing room at end of the match at Worksop Town on 30th August 2025.

Following the full-time whistle, the Saltney Ferry man gained access to the tunnel area before entering the away dressing room, where he was verbally abusive and made threats at players and coaching staff.

He was later filmed pushing and shouting abuse at Worksop supporters outside the stadium too.

Appearing at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on 3rd February, the man pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive, insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence. He also pleaded guilty to entering an area adjacent to the playing area.

The man had previously been issued with an indefinite club ban from Chester FC fixtures after he was identified from CCTV footage.

As a fan-owned club, Chester FC will always defend and respect supporters right to ask questions and criticise.

However, they do not believe vile abuse, personal attacks and physical threats are warranted under any circumstances, and have a zero-tolerance policy for such behaviour.
