A Chester choir is set to bid a fond farewell to its longstanding Musical Director with a special Christmas Carol concert.
Chester Bach Singers highly regarded as one of the finest choirs of its kind in the Northwest are set to stage their annual Carol concert at St Werburgh's Church in Chester on Saturday 14th December at 3pm.
The event, the last choir Carol concert to be conducted by Martin Bussey who is retiring after more than 38 years will feature several of his favourite Carols.
The concert will feature a mix of traditional well known and lesser-known contemporary Carols. Pieces set to be performed by the choir, accompanied by Organist Tom Coxhead include Jonathan Dove's setting of Dorothy L Sayers' poem 'The Three Kings', Will Todd's 'My Lord is Come', 'Joy to the World' and "Ding Dong Merrily on High'.
The concert will also include some much-loved Christmas songs including 'White Christmas' and 'Santa Claus is coming to town', with plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in the singing.
Speaking about the special Carol concert, Helen Crich, the Chair of Chester Bach Singers said:
"This will be Martin Bussey's last Carol concert with Chester Bach Singers as he looks forward to his retirement in March 2025 after conducting Bach's B Minor Mass. The Carols chosen are many of his favourites and the concert is shaping up to be a truly great homage to a Musical Director who has served the choir for over 38 years. We invite everyone to come and join us and enjoy the music and some Christmas refreshments.".
