Chester and Wirral Football League - Weekend Round Up

Here are the latest results from the Chester and Wirral Football League...

Friday night saw Hartford Vets set the pace for the weekend, grinding out a gritty 3-2 victory away at Neston Nomads Vets. A clinical brace from Craig Millington, paired with a Mike Jones strike, proved decisive; despite Rob Marrs and Ben Pearson finding the net for the hosts, it was not enough to prevent Hartford from heading home with a hard-earned three points.

On Saturday, Mersey Royal Vets booked their place in the Vets Cheshire Cup Final with a 3-0 dismantling of Capenhurst Vets. Goals from Dava Bowe, Chrissy Bowe, and Chay Dysart ensured passage for the Royal, who now await a confirmed date for their showdown with Davenham Vets.

In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division, Newton’s march towards the title continued as they preserved their unbeaten record. A Dan Christian double and a Tom Royal effort secured a 3-1 win over Handbridge, for whom Robbie Foster grabbed a consolation. The title race now looks like a two horse race with Whitegate trailing Newton only on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Upton JFC Reserves surged into third place with a dominant 4-0 display on the road at Cestrian Alex, courtesy of strikes from Jack Middleton, Sam Williams, Jord Mather, and Ryan Mackay.

The most frantic action of the afternoon unfolded in the game between Higher Bebington Kelma Reserves and Clarence. While unable to match the heights of the extraordinary 13-goal thriller between these two sides back in October, Kelma nevertheless produced another high-scoring triumph over Clarence to keep their title charge firmly on track.

Kenny Mahon proved the difference-maker with a clinical hat-trick, while Jake Barnard’s brace ensured that strikes from Clarence’s Tyler Smith, Billy Beasley, and Ben Morris were reduced to mere consolations in a hard-fought 5-3 victory.

Great Sutton Reserves and Elton played out a 2-2 stalemate to take a point apiece. Brad Thompson and Michael Simpson found the net for Sutton, but their efforts were cancelled out by replies from Elton’s Don Jones and Jim King.

FC Farndon booked their place in the Cayzer Shield semi-finals with a 9-1 dismantling of Poulton Vics. Lee Parry was the undisputed man of the match, helping himself to a sensational five-goal haul. Leo Davenport, Robbie Eaton, and Denvor Green compounded the Vics' misery, while Olly Smith grabbed a solitary consolation.

Chester Nomads 4th also progressed to the final four, edging out Sutton Rangers Reserves in a five-goal thriller. A Girish Kumar brace and a Macauley Salter effort did the damage for Nomads.

In the Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2, Paul Leay proved the difference-maker, his clinical double securing all three points for Eastham Vets against West Kirby United.

The Tom Gerraghty Vets Cup saw Cheshire Vikings Vets continue their fine form. The Division 5 leaders navigated a narrow encounter against Port Sunlight Vets, progressing 1-0 thanks to a decisive Jack Brooks strike.

West Kirby Vets were rampant on the road, dispatching Frodsham Vets Reserves 6-1. Greg Lindop and Neils Davies both notched doubles, while Paul Parry and Danny Rixon joined the party. Anthony Ollier managed the only goal for the hosts.

Wirral Masters Vets made light work of their trip to Dee Rangers Vets, strolling to a 4-0 victory. Mike Richardson led the charge with a brace, supported by efforts from Ben Ellise and Danny Payne.
