Chester FC earned all three points against the league leaders this afternoon, to move up to sixth in the Enterprise National League North.
An unbelievable Tom Davies flicked finish earned the Blues all three points against the league leaders.
The first-half ended with no goals for either side but there was no shortage of goalmouth action at the Deva Stadium.
Scott Burgess had the first major chance as he found himself in space behind the Coasters’ back line but saw his low effort slide wide of the foot of the post.
Fylde left-back Adam Lewis got to the byline on numerous occasions before the break and squared invitingly across the six-yard box but the ball continued to evade the visiting front line.
Danny Mayor was influential throughout and his opening effort of the contest forced Phil Croker to block behind for a corner.
Connell Rawlinson’s men had a double chance mid-way through the half, firstly through Fin Shrimpton whose effort failed to test Zac Jones before S. Burgess’ header flew over the top.
Blues shot-stopper Bobby Jones was tested twice by Luca Thomas late in the half, as our number one tipped over impressively on both occasions to preserve parity.
The first chance of the second period fell to midfielder Chris Merrie who forced B. Jones into another impressive stop.
S. Burgess also saw an effort sting the palms the palms of Z. Jones as both sides appeared to be cancelling each other out.
That was until the 86th minute when Tom Davies stepped up and produced a moment of magic to claim the winner.
A Declan Weeks cross found its way to our number six and he flicked a fantastic finish over his head and into the corner.
Connell Rawlinson’s men held on during 10 added minutes to claim a memorable victory and to move up to sixth in the Enterprise National League North with just two games remaining.
